Project Description

Rebecca Callis

I love the informal set table and the familial rituals associated with food and drink.

Growing up in a kind of 1970’s Good Life in the Upper Eden Valley, Cumbria, I unearthed a dislike for boiled parsnips, but also a deep rooted appreciation for the homegrown, handmade, well-crafted, the beauty in natural variation and understated individuality. I studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1990-1994 – specialising in Ceramics. I have been working in porcelain since 2001, Hand thrown in Valentine’s ‘Royale’ and dip-glazed in my constantly developing palette, I hope that my pots convey a considered yet un-precious honesty.
