Sue Hanna

I have always been interested in African art and textiles. Currently, I am inspired by Kuba textiles which are unique for their complexity of design and surface decoration; Kuba patterns are a magical world of repetition and rhythm. I am exploring elements present in these patterns through a series of relief and carved designs on vessels and objects. My work is mainly handbuilt, final surface treatment is achieved through Raku or Saggar firings.
